Maintenance & Troubleshooting

4.1 Regular Maintenance #

Keep your AquaSkim running efficiently with routine care:

Trash Basket Maintenance

  • Press the lid release button to open the top compartment.
  • Remove the trash basket and empty any collected debris.
  • Rinse the basket with clean water and let it dry if needed.
  • Reinsert the trash basket securely before use.

Solar Panel Cleaning

  • Wipe down solar panels regularly to maintain charging efficiency.
  • Remove dust, leaves, and debris using a damp cloth or gentle rinse.
  • Dry panels with a soft, clean towel.

Ultrasonic Sensor Cleaning

  • Inspect the sensors periodically for dust, water stains, or debris.
  • Gently clean with a soft, dry towel to ensure accurate navigation.

4.2 Common Issues & Fixes #

Troubleshoot common AquaSkim problems with these quick solutions:

Device Will Not Start

  • Ensure the power switch is turned on.
  • Charge the unit using solar power or the Type-C adapter.
  • Check for full trash basket and empty if needed.
  • Verify no alarm or fault is active by checking the LED or app.
  • Make sure the unit is not in manual-only mode — enable auto mode via app.

Unit Not Charging

  • Confirm the power switch is in the “on” position.
  • Make sure the Type-C charging cable is fully connected.
  • If charging outdoors, ensure the unit is in direct sunlight.

Device Rotates in Place

  • The ultrasonic sensor may be dirty or water-stained.
  • Clean the sensor gently with a soft towel and restart the unit.

Low Battery Warning

  • When the LED flashes red, the battery is below 20%.
  • Place the AquaSkim in sunlight or charge with a Type-C adapter.
  • Device resumes operation automatically at 30% battery.

Trash Basket Full Alert

  • Red “breathing” light indicates a full basket.
  • Empty the basket and restart the machine.

Steady Red Light

  • A system fault has been detected.
  • Check for obstructions, jammed parts, or full trash basket.

4.3 Resetting the AquaSkim #

If AquaSkim is unresponsive or acting abnormally:

  • Turn off the power switch and wait 10 seconds.
  • Turn the unit back on and observe the LED indicator.
  • If problems persist, open the Illuminex App and tap “Factory Reset” under device settings.
  • Follow in-app instructions to re-pair the device if necessary.
  • After reset, ensure trash basket is empty and sensors are clean before restarting.
