Installation & Setup

2.1 Connecting to the Heater #

The Lumi Heater Controller must be connected to the dry contact switch of the gas pool heater to properly control the heating operation. Users should refer to the appropriate documentation from the heater manufacturer (e.g., Hayward, Pentair, Jandy, Raypak) to determine the correct location for connecting the dry contact wires. Ensure the dry contact terminals are wired correctly following the manufacturer’s specifications.

2.2 Installing the Temperature Sensors #

• Water Temperature Sensors:
  • Install one before the heater (inlet side) to measure incoming water temperature.
  • Install the second after the heater (outlet side) to monitor heated water output.
• Air Temperature Sensor:
  • Place in an open area exposed to atmospheric air to measure ambient temperature.

2.3 Installing the Lumi Heater Controller #

1. Turn off power to the pool heater before installation.
2. Mount the Lumi Heater Controller to the wall.
3. Connect the temperature sensor to the designated port.
4. Plug in the Power cord and ensure the controller is powered on. 
5. Reconnect power to the pool heater.

2.4 Connecting to the Illuminex App #

1. Open the Illuminex App and tap + Add Device.
2. Select Lumi Heater Controller from the list of compatible devices.
3. Ensure your phone is connected to a 2.4GHz WiFi network.
4. Follow the in-app prompts to complete the pairing process.
5. Once paired, name your heater controller and assign it to a room.

2.3 Verifying Installation #

• Check the device status in the Illuminex App.
• Test the temperature sensor readings to ensure accuracy.
• Adjust temperature settings and confirm the heater responds.
