Lumi Heater Controller

The Lumi Heater Controller adds smart WiFi control to most major brand pool heaters and heat pumps. Pair it with the Illuminex App to:

• Set target temperature from anywhere

• Schedule heating around your usage

• Monitor heater run time and energy

• Receive alerts on heater errors

Compatible with most gas heaters and heat pumps from Hayward, Pentair, Jandy, and Illuminex AquaHeat.

1. Mount the controller in a sheltered area near the heater

2. Wire the controller to the heater per the included diagram (turn off power first)

3. Power on the controller

4. Pair via the Illuminex app (2.4GHz WiFi required)

5. Set initial target temperature

Safety: Always shut off power and gas before wiring. If unsure, hire a licensed pool technician.

From the Illuminex app:

• Set target temperature — Slide to your desired temp

• Run schedules — e.g., heat to 82°F daily 4–8pm

• One-tap scenes — "Spa night," "Morning swim"

• Eco mode — Limits run time during peak energy hours

Heater not responding to commands:

• Check WiFi connection on the controller (LED indicator)

• Confirm heater has power and gas/electric supply

• Check for water flow — most heaters require flow before firing

Temperature reading off:

• The thermostat sensor may be miscalibrated. Recalibrate via the app or replace the sensor.

Frequent error codes:

• Refer to your heater's error code list. Common: low flow, high limit trip, ignition failure.

• Inspect the controller and wiring annually

• During winter, disconnect the controller in cold climates and store indoors

• Keep the area around the heater clear of debris

• Never bypass safety sensors
