Valve size (1.5″ or 2″ multiport valve) does not determine drain-plug compatibility. Do not infer drain-plug fit from valve size, plumbing size, or tank diameter.

Which Sand Filter Drain Plug Do I Need?
Illuminex offers three distinct sand-filter drain plugs — each for different AquaCrystal tank sizes or drain styles. They are not interchangeable.
AquaCrystal Sand Filter Drain Plug
For 31″ and 36″ AquaCrystal sand-filter tanks (LU-SF31, LU-SF36).

For AquaCrystal models using the approved hex-style drain component.

Drain Access for Service & Winterization
The AquaCrystal lower drain provides access for removing water from the filter tank during approved maintenance and seasonal service procedures.
Removing the drain plug does not automatically remove sand media, internal laterals, standpipe, or the multiport valve. Follow the current AquaCrystal manual for approved draining and winterization procedures.
Depressurize Before Service
Turn off the circulation pump and fully relieve pressure from the filtration system before removing or servicing the drain plug.
Follow the current AquaCrystal service instructions for draining and winterization.
Never remove the plug while the pump is running.
Never loosen it while the filter is pressurized.
Do not use the drain plug as the primary pressure-relief method.
When Should the Drain Plug Be Inspected?
Visible Damage
Inspect the plug for cracking, deformation or other visible damage.
Seal Condition
Inspect the approved seal and mating drain surface during service.
Drain Connection
If the drain area does not seal correctly, inspect the plug and sealing components according to the AquaCrystal service instructions.
Replace When Necessary
Use the correct AquaCrystal replacement component when the existing drain plug is damaged or no longer serviceable.
